Morocco carries Turkish billet exports in June

Turkish semi-finished product exports, the vast majority of which were billet, fell -14% on-year in June to 51,451 tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They recovered, however, from a six-month low in May of 39,485t.

HS code 720711 billet accounted for 51,416t of June exports. Morocco took in 51,373t, double on-year, but Malaysia took in zero versus over 15,000t a year earlier.

The average price of HS code 720711 billet exports in June was $401/tonne versus $432/t in June 2019.

Nigeria, meanwhile, took in zero 720720 semis from Turkey versus over 15,600t last year.

In January-June Turkish semis exports thus dropped -58% on-year to 368,060t, with Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia the largest markets in that order.

Turkish six-month rebar exports inched down -0.2% to 2.68 million tonnes (see Kallanish passim).
