US renews Chinese OCTG duties

The US has opted to renew its duties on Chinese oil country tubular goods (OCTG), Kallanish learns from the Federal Register.

The US Department of Commerce initiated the review on 1 April. The petitioners in the case were Maverick Tube, Tenaris Bay City, IPSCO Tubulars, Benteler Steel, US Steel, Welded Tube USA, and Vallourec Star.

Commerce found that eliminating the duties would likely lead to a resumption of dumping at margins of up to 99.14%.

As a result, the extant duties will be left in place.

According to the department’s preliminary figures for June, the US imported just 29.7 tonnes of OCTG from China during the month. The US imported 92,757t of OCTG in total during June.
