First Quantum’s copper production drops 28% in Q4 2023
First Quantum Minerals says its 2023 fourth-quarter copper output dropped 28% quarter-on-quarter, primarily due to the closure of its Cobre Panamá mining operation.
Panama’s Supreme Court ordered the Canadian miner to close the operation – one of the largest open-pit copper mines in the world – last November ruling the company’s mining contract as “unconstitutional.”
