
Kardemir reduces billet, wire rod prices
Turkey's benchmark blast furnace-based mill, Kardemir, opened domestic sales for billet and wire rod on Wednesday.
The producer decreased ex-works billet prices by $15/tonne to $485/t for 150mm S235JR grade and $495/t for B420 grade, from its previous list on 9 April, Kallanish notes.
Prices for 5.5-56mm diameter wire rod have been decreased by $10/t to $565-605/t, from the previous list on 9 April.
Discounts of 1% and 2% respectively are provided for wire rod sales on deferred payment of 2,500 tonnes and 5,000t.
Kardemir offered a discount of 1% for orders over 500t in case of cash payment.
These values exclude 20% VAT.
After selling around 45,000t of billet, the company closed sales of billet by noon on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, scrap prices have declined by approximately $44/t since 9 April.
The lira stood at TRY 38.46/dollar on Wednesday morning.
