US plate prices hold the line
Plate prices are holding the line at all-time highs in the US market. Many market participants believe this may be the peak in pricing, with expectations of some weakening in the coming weeks.
The Kallanish weekly US A36 plate assessment was flat this week at $1,830-1,880/short ton, ex-works mill. Plate, having begun last year at $980/st, saw a steady rise in prices throughout 2021, but didn’t hit its current peak until later in the fourth quarter.
