24M introduces new separator for lithium batteries
US battery manufacturer 24M Technologies unveiled its new Impervio battery separator on Monday, which aims to boost the safety of lithium batteries.
Kallanish understands the separator is to be used in lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries, which can run into problems with electrode misalignments and metallic dendrites. These small metal structures can build up on the anode surface, which can short the battery cell and lead to fires.
