Australian light electric vehicles sales increased 86% on-year in 2022 and could soon pass the 100,000-vehicle mark, according to the country’s Electric Vehicle Council (EVC).
New EV registrations rose to 39,353 units last year to a car market share of 3.8%. Of that, 79% were battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 21% were plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Buyers had 70 models to choose from – 38 BEVs and 32 PHEVs, Kallanish learns.
