Basf opens high-performance CAM plant in Brandenburg
German chemical giant Basf has opened Europe’s first co-located centre of battery material production and battery recycling in Schwarzheide, in Brandenburg, Germany.
The high-performance cathode active material (CAM) plant will process 15,000 tonnes/year of end-of-life EV batteries and production scrap. From 2024, the facility will be fed with black mass produced from an on-site battery recycling plant, Kallanish understands.
