Canada’s Taseko faces strike at Gibraltar copper mine
Members of Canada’s trade union Unifor on Tuesday announced a strike action at the Gibraltar Mine if operator Taseko and the union do not reach a settlement next month.
Taseko operates the Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine, which it fully owns after buying a 12.5% stake from Dowa and Furukawa last February. Located near Williams Lake in British Columbia, it is the second-largest open-pit copper mine in Canada and the largest employer in the Cariboo region.&nb…
