CATL, Xiaomi form EV battery joint venture
Chinese electric vehicle firm Xiaomi Auto, state carmaker BAIC and battery giant CATL have recently formed a power battery joint venture, Kallanish learns.
The JV was registered in Beijing with a capital of CNY 1 billion ($138 million). It will build battery cell production plants to offer a stable supply for Xiaomi Auto. CATL holds a 51% stake in the venture, BAIC a 39% stake, and Xiaomi Auto and Beijing Energy Technology each hold a 5% stake.
