Codelco's Salar de Maricunga lithium project advances
Chilean copper mining giant Codelco is advancing on the development of its Salar de Maricunga lithium project located in the Atacama Region. The state-owned company obtained the last required permit in late January.
Drilling activities will begin by the end of March and will last almost 10 months. Depending on the concentrations of lithium, Codelco will then evaluate the environmental and economic feasibility of pursuing the next stages of the project.
