COPPER: Rio Tinto declares force majeure in some cathode contracts
Anglo-Australian mining company Rio Tinto has declared force majeure for some of its copper cathode contracts, following a shutdown at its Kennecott smelter in the US, Kallanish reports.
A spokesperson confirmed the measure, which also includes acid contracts, came after the smelter in Utah was shut due to a release of molten copper on 21 September.
