COPPER: Rio Tinto exploring underground mining at Kennecott
Rio Tinto says it has approved a $108 million investment to further explore underground mining at its Kennecott copper operation in the western United States, Kallanish reports.
The United Kingdom-Australia company says the possible underground mining at Kennecott would occur concurrently with the continuing open pit operations and would result in increased copper output from the Utah mine.
