Department of Energy withdraws $14.9m grant for California brine project
The US Department of Energy has quietly withdrawn a $14.9 million grant to Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway Energy Renewables for a pilot project in connection with a plan to extract lithium from geothermal brines in California’s Imperial Valley, Kallanish has learned.
The grant was rescinded last March after the company wanted to make significant changes to the project by switching production from lithium hydroxide to lithium carbonate, Reuters says…
