DOE awards $2.8 billion to 20 companies to boost battery manufacturing
The Biden administration through the US Department of Energy is awarding $2.8 billion to 20 companies across 12 states to supercharge US manufacturing of batteries for electric vehicles and the electric grid. The money is coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and requires about $9 billion in matching funds from the grant winners. The grants will help boost batteries and EVs and create good-paying US jobs, says Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
