Fortescue orders 2 battery electric locomotives for ore rail shipments
Australia-based Fortescue says it has ordered two new battery electric locomotives to transport its iron ore to port, Kallanish reports.
The eight-axle locomotives will each have an energy capacity of 14.5 megawatt-hours and will be manufactured at the Progress Rail facility in Sete Lagoas, Brazil. The first locomotive delivery will be in 2023. The cost of the locomotives was not disclosed.
