LITHIUM: Chile’s global production share to halve in 2030
The Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco) expects the country’s global lithium production market share to decline by half by 2030, despite investments in the prolific Salar de Atacama region.
According to a new study by the agency, part of the mining ministry, the world’s No. 2 lithium producer will see its market share declining from 32% in 2020 to 15% in 2030. That’s because new projects and expansions elsewhere will diversify supply.
