NICKEL, COBALT: First Quantum Minerals opens mine in Western Australia
Canada-based First Quantum Minerals has officially opened its new Shoemaker-Levy nickel mine in Western Australia, Kallanish reports.
The new deposit is expected to extend the company’s Ravensthorpe nickel-cobalt operations by 20 years to about 2050. It had 120 years of life begfore the new mine was opened. The announcement of the opening came from the Western Australia government.
