NICKEL, COPPER: Atalaya Mining invests in Spanish metals belt
Cyprus-based Atalaya Mining plc says it is establishing a strong new mining presence in the Ossa Morena Metallogenic Belt in southwest Spain, Kallanish reports.
In a EUR 2.5 million ($2.8m) deal with Grupo Sacyr SA, Atalaya is getting a 51% interest in Rio Narcea Nickel SL in addition to 20 exploration permits for base and precious metals in what it calls an area with “strong exploration potential.” Those permits cover about 1,114 square kilometres.
