North America’s battery production capacity to rise 20x by 2030: DOE
Electric vehicle battery manufacturing is set to increase by almost 20 times by 2030 in North America thanks to a wave of new planned gigafactories, Kallanish learns.
According to the US Department of Energy (DOE), battery production capacity should rise from 55 gigawatt-hours per year in 2021 to nearly 1,000 GWh/y by 2030. This will meet annual demand of roughly 10-13 million BEVs.
