Toyota to take control of battery JV with Panasonic
Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor Corporation said Tuesday it will take control of Primearth EV Energy (PEVE), a battery manufacturing company it currently owns with Panasonic, Kallanish reports.
The move comes as Toyota seeks to strengthen its capabilities in mass-producing automotive batteries, as PEVE plans to begin production of batteries for both all-electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Toyota did not say how much it will pay for Panasonic’s 19.…
