Umicore, Volkswagen to build precursor, cathode material JV
Battery materials manufacturer Umicore and carmaker Volkswagen plan to establish a joint venture to build precursor and cathode material production capacities in Europe, Kallanish reports.
The JV remains subject to final agreements and customary conditions, including regulatory approvals. If successful, it would be the first of its kind in the European automotive market, helping the bloc to develop a localised sustainable battery supply chain.
