US Steel to add $450m electrical steel line for growing EV demand
Growing demand from the electric vehicle sector is pushing US Steel to grow its non-grain oriented (NGO) electrical steel capabilities in Arkansas, Kallanish learns from a company presentation.
US Steel will spend $450 million to bring 200,000 short tons of NGO online at its newly acquired Big River Steel mill by the third quarter of 2023. Ultimately, US Steel expects 7% of the mill’s output to be NGO.
