2017 Chinese private steel sales margin hit 6.32%
Last year private Chinese steelmakers produced 471 million tonnes of crude steel, down by 2% from 2016, according to the China Chamber of Commerce for Metallurgical Enterprises (CCCME). The first downturn in private steel production in recent years has followed policy-driven mergers, relocations and the clearance of most mislabelled steelmaking capacity.
