Chinese manufacturing struggled in March

The HSBC China manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) came in at 49.6 in March, down from 50.7 in February but higher than the 49.2 flash estimate released a week ago. China’s official manufacturing PMI from the National Bureau of Statistics did a little better, rebounding 0.2 points to 50.1, barely indicating expansion.
