The latest analysis of steel import data by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) suggests that monthly steel import tonnage shipped to the US fell in February.
According to the Census Bureau’s latest data, monthly steel import permit applications fell by 12.5% in February to a total of 2.19 million short tons. This projected decline represents a 16.2% decrease below January’s final imports totalling 2.61m st.
