ArcelorMittal Brazil secures funding for renewable energy project
ArcelorMittal will significantly increase the use of renewable energy in its entire production chain in Brazil, Kallanish notes. The steelmaker secured funding from Brazil’s Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) to build a wind farm. The so-called Babilonia project will be developed under a join-venture agreement with Casa dos Ventos, one of the country’s largest producers of renewable energy.
