Baotou’s annual earnings slump on lower sales
China-listed Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Union (Baogang) has reported falling income and net losses for the year 2022. This is due to lower production and sales in line with a period of suffering for the whole ferrous industry, according to its annual report.
In 2022, Baogang produced 13.28 million tonnes of iron and 14.18mt of steel, which fell by 11.84% and 13.76% year-on-year, respectively, Kallanish notes. Finished steel output was down 12.97% at 13.44mt.
