Bengang orders slab caster
Northern China’s Benxi Iron and Steel (Bengang) has placed an order with SMS Group for a new smart slab caster, the engineering firm tells Kallanish.
The new caster will have capacity of 1.6 million tonnes/year and produce slabs 230mm thick and 1,000-1,900mm wide. It will be possible to extend slab thickness to 250mm at a later date. Commissioning is due by the end of 2020.
