Brazil's monthly steel trade surplus widens sequentially
Brazil remained a net exporter of steel in August. The country’s trade surplus was almost 450,000 tonnes in the month, widening 31.2% over July but narrowing 21.2% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
Eight-month trade surplus stands at 4.83 million tonnes, compared with 6.31mt in January-August 2022. The reduction is mainly explained by 49.5% higher imports on-year.
