Brazil steel production, consumption drop in February
Brazil saw steel production and consumption fall both sequentially and year-on-year in February, Kallanish notes. Cumulative output also remained weak compared to a year earlier.
According to local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB)’s latest report, Brazil’s February crude steel output was 2.67 million tonnes. This was down 7.2% over January and 6.9% y-o-y. Two-month production was 5.8% lower on-year at 5.55mt.
