Brazil widens steel trade surplus in May
Brazil remained a net exporter of steel in May. The country’s trade surplus was almost 770,000 tonnes in the month, widening 74.6% over April and 2.1% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
According to the local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB), Brazilian steel exports increased 37.3% month-on-month and also 12.5% on-year in May to 1.15 million tonnes.
