Brazil's steel imports, exports fall in October
Brazilian steel imports fell on-year in October, show local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB) data. Exports were also weak.
Steel imports increased 14.3% over September to 162,524 tonnes but this volume was down -22.5% on-year, Kallanish notes.
Flat steel arrivals totalled 83,844t, -41.2% lower y-o-y, while long steel imports were 27,929t, or -14% less y-o-y. The value of steel imports was $163.8 million, -25% lower y-o-y.
