Brazil’s steel industry calls for more protection
Brazilian steelmakers are losing market share and this is causing them some concern, says Marco Polo de Mello Lopes, the executive chief of the local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB).
The steel industry is now lobbying the national government to find solutions for the sector, Kallanish notes. The primary one is believed to be finding a way for local authorities to implement new protection measures from growing steel imports.
