Brazil’s steel trade surplus narrows in February
Brazil remained a net exporter of steel in February. The country’s trade surplus was almost 254,000 tonnes in the month, narrowing by 57.8% versus January and by 21.8% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
The trade surplus for the first two months of 2024 reached 823,000t, compared with 1.19 million tonnes in January-February 2023. The reduction is mainly explained by 49.9% higher imports on-year.
