Brazil's steel trade surplus widens in 2022
Brazil saw finished steel exports rise on-month in December, as did imports, Kallanish learns from data issued by local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB).
The country, which has the largest trade surplus in Latin America, saw its positive balance improve in 2022. Steel exports surpassed entries into the country by nearly 8,605,402 tonnes. This volume was 43.4% higher compared to the 6,000,252t trade surplus in 2021, IAB data show.
