Buyers predict continued US plate price growth
US plate buyers expect prices to remain on an upward trend through the beginning of next year, Kallanish reports.
Kallanish currently puts A36 material at $1,650-1,680/short ton, ex-works, domestic mill. Plate did not experience quite the same surge as hot-rolled coil at the end of last year due its lack of exposure to auto, but prices have nevertheless been rising steadily.
That will continue well into the first quarter, a Midwest buyer claims. …
