China drives on with 2017 steel capacity closures
China has completed 84.8% of this year's steel overcapacity elimination target by cutting 42.39 million tonnes/year of crude steel capacity, according to the National Development & Reform Commission (NDRC). In 2017 China aims to cut 50m t/y of steel capacity, on top of the closure of so-called mislabelled steel capacity.
