China signs Philippine stainless steelworks MoU
Global Ferronickel Holdings (FNI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Baiyin Nonferrous Group which could eventually lead to the construction of a 1 million tonnes/year stainless steel plant in the Philippines. In the short term however, the agreement - announced to the Philippine stock exchange on Friday - is more likely to mean funding for FNI’s expansion of its mine in Palawan, Kallanish notes.
