Chinese consumption to remain high despite construction slowdown
China’s construction and automotive industry steel consumption is projected to decline -1.2% and -1.5% on-year respectively in 2019, but the country’s steel consumption will remain high for the foreseeable future. So said China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute (MPI)’s Jiang Xiaodong at this week’s Irepas meeting in Barcelona.
