Chinese mills lift longs prices after holidays
Most construction steel producers in China have lifted their offers by CNY 20-30/tonne ($3.15-4.72/t) after the Spring Festival holiday. Expectations of rebounding steel demand and low mill inventories were driving the increases. The rapid growth of construction steel social inventory is, however, bringing pressure on market prices, Kallanish notes.
