Chinese steel firms on restrictions but inflation struggles
Chinese steel futures prices increased slightly on Monday as restrictions on steelmakers were announced in Tangshan. Chinese inflation slowed in June, however, suggesting struggling demand, Kallanish notes.
The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed up CNY 28/tonne at CNY 2,430/t ($363/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY 32/t at CNY 2,589/t.
