Chinese steel flat as output slips slowly
Chinese steel futures prices were largely unchanged on Tuesday. Production levels fell in early June but remained at high levels, and although market inventories are flat, steelmaker inventories are growing, Kallanish notes.
The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed up CNY 8/tonne on Tuesday at CNY 2,082/t ($316/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY7/t at CNY 2,260/t.
