Chinese steel futures dive again
Chinese steel futures took a sharp hit again on Tuesday as the prices for both rebar and HRC saw heavy falls for the second successive day. News of record steel production in June however (see related article) will not have helped concerns about overcapacity and oversupply.
The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed down CNY 142/tonne at CNY 2,297/t ($343/t), while the same contract for HRC closed down CNY 136/t at CNY 2,449/t.
