Chinese steel prices stabilise but demand remains weak
Chinese steel futures prices stabilised slightly on Thursday after losing ground sharply over the last month. Data from the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) meanwhile shows that mill sales were not so strong in April, Kallanish notes.
The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed up CNY 12/tonne at CNY 1,953/t ($298/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY 17/t at CNY 2,153/t.
