Chinese steel prices move up as output falls
Chinese steel futures prices surged further on Tuesday as restricted supply continued to be talked up by traders and mills. Data showing a fall in steel output in late March again boosted sentiment, Kallanish notes.
The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed up CNY 81/tonne at CNY 2,344/t ($362/t), while the May hot rolled coil contract gained CNY 78/t to CNY 2,719/t.
