Chinese steel sentiment firms
Chinese steel futures prices gained on Monday on the back of positive sentiment and restrictions in Tangshan. While the trade war has had a negative impact on sentiment, trade data has been supportive, but that may not last, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the January 2019 rebar contract closed CNY 98/tonne higher than Friday at CNY 4,284/t ($627/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY 50/t at CNY 4,164/t.
