Chinese steel prices surge on growing confidence
Chinese steel futures prices leapt higher on Monday as confidence grew in the market. Another month of strong exports in July also helped support the market, while other economic data suggested a more resilient Chinese economy, Kallanish notes.
The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed up a massive CNY 102/tonne at CNY 2,607/t ($391/t), while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed up CNY 104/t at CNY 2,787/t.
