Chinese steelmakers lift longs prices
Chinese steel mills across all regions have massively increased their mid-August construction steel list prices, with hikes ranging from CNY10-300/tonne. The change followed a strong increase in spot prices over the last ten days, Kallanish notes.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange on Friday the January 2018 rebar contract closed at CNY 3,862/t ($580/t), down CNY 107/t. That was still up from CNY 3,774/t a week earlier however.
