Weda Bay starts building China-led Indonesian nickel plant
The Weda Bay ferronickel project in Indonesia led by China's Tsingshan Group began construction on 30 August, according to local media. The plant is targeting 900,000 tonnes/year of ferronickel capacity, with contained nickel potentially reaching 90,000-180,000 t/y, Kallanish notes.
